Dynavap Omni 2021

Switching to the Dynavap M 2021 after using an XMAX Vital for a few years already felt like a significant upgrade…so imagine my surprise when I found out that Dynavap also offers a ‘premium’ device called the Dynavap Omni.

After swallowing the fact that the Dynavap Omni 2021 costs $220 (in the US), compared to $75 for the Dynavap M 2021, I was curious to try out the cutting-edge features in Dynavap’s flagship device. Is the Omni truly an upgrade to the Dynavap M?

Style, Materials & Dimensions

The Omni comes in a Matte Gray colour that makes it visually distinct from the M’s shiny metallic finish. A few months after the release of the original Omni 2021, Dynavap also released the Obsidium, which is an alternate colour version coated in glossy black. The Obsidium is not available in India at the time of publishing this.

The blue and golden highlights on the Omni that you see in the pictures are the result of a heat treatment experiment with a torch. Titanium parts take up different colours at different temperatures when heated with a torch or anodized using electricity. This can lead to some beautiful trippy colours and it adds an element of personalization.

Dynavap M 2021 and Omni 2021 comparison

The first thing I noticed as soon as I picked up the Omni 2021 was how light it was. Even though the difference is small on paper - The Omni weighs 17.3 grams compared to the M’s 19 grams - the difference was quite noticeable when I held it. This is especially because the Omni is a bigger device overall. Combined with the spinning mouthpiece, it stands at a length of 4.25”, versus the M which is 3.5” in length. The 2021 Omni is the same length as the previous year’s Omnivap XL.

The Omni is made completely of Titanium including everything from the tip to the condenser and even the tiny screen (which Dynavap terms the CCD). The Captive Cap is the same as the M’s and is made of Stainless Steel.

The titanium parts have various advantages. Titanium tips and stems heat up and cool down faster. Therefore, the Omni's titanium tip reaches extraction temperature earlier than the M's stainless steel tip. As the Ti tip also cools down faster, there’s less of a pause between back-to-back heating cycles. What this means is that the Omni allows you to extract more from your bud in a shorter duration using less butane or battery power.

As Titanium tips and stems cool down faster, there is also a shorter wait to refill the bowl, in case you are in the mood for back-to-back bowls.

Not only is the Omni’s tip made of Titanium, it also has a completely unique design. The tip has a 9-fin profile that is different from the Standard Ti Tip and the Vong Tip which are also made of Titanium. It provides the tastiest rips out of all the Dynavaps I’ve tried, which include the Dynavap M 2021, a C-Vap with a 2018 tip and a Standard Ti Tip paired with the Simrell MVS. While the Standard Ti Tip/MVS combo beats the Omni when it comes to cloud volume, I find the flavours that the Omni puts out much more enjoyable.

Dynavap Omni 2021

The Omni 2021’s stem has been thoroughly designed for maximum tactility and ergonomics. Unlike the M’s…M-shaped air port, the Omni has two horizontal slits that are slightly offset from each other. This has been done so that it is easier to modulate the air flow by rolling the device side-by-side between the thumb and index finger. However, the Omni has an adjustable condenser that allows 'hands-free' usage of the air port.

The stem has diamond-shaped cuts to make it easier to hold the Omni. It also has a ‘ring’ that has been provided to make it easier to spin the device while heating up the cap. Last but not least, the stem has a diamond-shaped symbol to indicate how much the telescoping condenser has been extended or retracted.

After the tip, the most significant improvement that the Omni has over the M is the telescoping condenser and mouthpiece combo. Unlike the M’s condenser which is a straight tube, the Omni has a helical condenser that is also longer than the M’s. This design improves cooling by providing a longer path for the air to flow through.

Powering the Device

The Omni 2021 is also powered in exactly the same way as the M 2021. The Omni does not have any heat source of its own and needs to be heated by an external source. A butane torch will do the trick, or you can buy an induction heater for convenience. Check my Dynavap M 2021 review to know the pros and cons.

Experience

Just from appearance alone, you can tell that the Omni is much more intricately designed than the M. The differences are much more than cosmetic as the Omni outperforms the M in every aspect. The attention to design is evident when you manoeuvre the Omni in your hands. The Omni’s lighter and longer body tremendously increase the ease with which the device can be used. The telescoping condenser allowed me to use the Omni without needing to cover the air port. I set it according to my preference when I got the Omni and never had to fiddle with it again!

The Ti tip is way easier to use for maximum extraction. The unique tip along with the condenser and mouthpiece puts out huge clouds that taste amazing. In my experience, the flavours that I get from the Omni 2021 are more intense than my three other Dynavaps. If terpy goodness is what I desired, I found myself going for the Omni without a second’s hesitation.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Isopropyl alcohol for cleaning

The Omni 2021 has more parts than the M, but cleaning the device is just as easy. Even after a month of use, soaking all the parts in 99.9% isopropyl alcohol did a wonderful job of getting out all the accumulated resin and bits of herb.

Dynavap Omni Price & Where to Buy in India

The Omni 2021 currently retails on Terpene Central for ₹18,999 using the discount code DESITED5. It is also available on The Giggle Grass for ₹19,999.

Conclusion

Objectively speaking, the Omni is an improvement over the M in every way I can think of. It’s got a cooler design, an improved tip, better cooling and neat quality-of-life features. In fact, ‘quality-of-life’ seems to be what the Omni seems to be all about. The M is a ‘no-frills’ device for those who wish to dip their toes into the Dynaverse. On the other hand, the Omni is a feature-rich device for those who are convinced by the abilities of Dynavaps and wish to take their first big dive into the Dynaverse.

The elephant in the room in any discussion about the Omni is its price. There is no obvious answer to whether or not the Omni is ‘worth’ paying more than double the cost of the M. For the same price as an Omni, you could get an M plus a mid-range electronic TED, which might make a lot more sense to some. If a ‘premium M’ is what you’re looking for, then that’s exactly what you get with the Omni.

  1. Seems like something to get if you are really into vaping and need everything to be optimised to the max. Since vaping itself is a niche in India, i don't think Omni is going to be the first choice of many people. M seems to still be the popular choice.
